Program overview
Veterans rarely arrive at instability through one door. Separation from service, a lost job, a health condition, a records problem, an expired lease — the causes stack, and each one is handled by a different office with a different form. Veterans Rebuilding Services exists to compress that maze into one relationship: a single coordinator who knows the veteran's situation and works the whole picture with them.
Housing comes first. NC GOD INC works with the veteran to identify a safe place to stay, then builds a stabilization plan around it — documentation, income, arrears, transportation, and the practical obligations that decide whether a placement holds after month three.
Benefits and records navigation runs alongside it. Many veterans are eligible for support they are not receiving, often because a DD-214, discharge characterization, address record, or medical file is missing or contested. NC GOD INC helps organize documents, prepare requests, and coordinate with veteran-serving organizations and accredited representatives who can act on claims. NC GOD INC is not a government agency and does not administer or decide VA benefits.
Career rebuilding closes the loop. Military experience translates well into logistics and commercial driving, healthcare support, security, skilled trades, and operations roles — but the translation has to be written down before an employer sees it. Veterans are supported through résumé translation of military occupational experience, interview preparation, credential pathways including CDL, CNA, and HHA, and introductions to employers who actively hire veterans.
Peer connection is part of the design, not an add-on. Veterans who want contact with other veterans are connected to peer volunteers and veteran-serving partners in the community, because isolation undoes progress faster than almost anything else.
