Supportive Housing & Case Management
A safe place to live, paired with a case manager who stays with you through the whole climb.
Program overview
Nobody plans a career from a parking lot. Sleep, safety, an address, and a door that locks are the preconditions for everything else — which is why NC GOD INC treats housing as the first step of a plan rather than the end of one. Participants are supported into safe, stable housing and then supported inside it, so the placement holds long enough for training, employment, and independence to become realistic.
Case management is the engine. Each participant is paired with a case manager who conducts an intake conversation, builds an individualized service plan with dated goals, and meets regularly to work through it. That plan is specific and practical: replacing lost identification and vital records, applying for benefits the household is entitled to, opening a bank account, resolving debts or arrears that block a lease, arranging transportation, scheduling medical and behavioral health appointments with appropriate providers, and preparing for training or work.
Housing stability support covers the skills that keep a placement intact — budgeting against real income, tenancy obligations, utility setup and payment, household routines, conflict resolution with neighbors and landlords, and knowing who to call before a small problem becomes an eviction. Where a participant's needs exceed what NC GOD INC provides directly, the case manager makes a warm referral and follows up rather than handing over a phone number.
Benefits and resource navigation is handled hands-on. Case managers assist with SNAP, Medicaid and health coverage, disability applications, immigration document questions through appropriate legal partners, and school enrollment for children in the household. The goal is that a participant is not sent to five agencies to explain their story five times.
Progress is reviewed on a schedule, not left to chance. Placement, retention at 30, 90, and 180 days, benefits secured, and readiness milestones are recorded on the case plan so both the participant and NC GOD INC can see movement — and so support can intensify when a plan stalls. Participants move at their own pace; nobody is exited for needing more time.
